THE EVENT
The Crossing Escape from Alcatraz, inspired by the famous escape from the island’s prison in 1962 is among the most evocative swimming crossings in the world. In October, you may choose to live this experience in California with Swimming Travel!
Two different options are available: GOLD and BASIC.
In the GOLD option the athlete will be pampered by Swimming Travel on an unforgettable journey that will allow not only to experience intense days of swimming, from the crossing to the discovery of the Californian coasts, but also to get to know the technological, economic and cultural center of California: San Francisco. The GOLD package includes 7 nights in a **** hotel, swimming crossing, tips and strategies, group swimming before the event, visit to the city of San Francisco. Swimmers' companions are allowed in GOLD and can follow the crossing on board a private boat.
In the BASIC option the athlete has the right to participate only in the swimming crossing, the accommodation is managed independently. We strongly advise BASIC participants to consider at least one extra day when planning their trip; BASIC participants should note that there will be a swim in San Francisco Bay the day before the event.
Due to weather conditions, the crossing may be postponed and we don't want you to miss this opportunity.
As always, safety in the water is a priority, for this reason the crossing will be monitored and managed by local professionals, experts in assisting those marine currents.
BASIC PROGRAM
Crossing only
DAY 1 | 09 October Meeting on the beach for a pre-crossing swim with organizers.
DAY 2 | 10 October Meeting on the beach for the technical briefing, analysis of weather conditions, route analysis and delivery of gadgets. Transfer by boats to the starting point. Swimming crossing Escape from Alcatraz.
DAY 3 | 11 October Mandatory day off for possible recovery of the crossing not carried out the previous day due to improving weather and sea conditions.
For reasons related to the postponement of the crossing, due to adverse weather and sea conditions, participants of the BASIC package are invited to plan their trip allowing for the possibility of postponing the crossing by 1 day.

Cancellation policy
Refund policy
- 90% refund until 19.02.
- There are no refund policies for cancellations after March 10th.
The organization will have no responsibility for any postponements or cancellations of the crossing due to bad weather and sea conditions, committing itself and limiting itself to evaluating with the participants and the maritime authority the possibility of an alternative date. For this reason, participants of the BASIC package are highly invited to plan their trip allowing for the possibility of postponing the crossing by 1 day in the event of adverse weather conditions.
The amount paid will be withheld in the event of: cancellation, waiver of postponement, delay, failure or incomplete sending of the necessary documentation for the crossing with consequent impossibility of carrying out the crossing.
No refund is provided in the event that: the crossing has started regularly but must be interrupted during its progress due to worsening weather and sea conditions or due to intervention by the Maritime Authorities.
A refund of 80% is provided for cancellations due to national travel restrictions within the American territory.

DAY 1 | 05 October Arrival at the hotel. Accommodation, group meeting. Walk Fisherman's Wharf. Free dinner.
DAY 2 | 06 October Sea training in San Francisco Bay. City tour on foot: Financial District, North Beach, Chinatown, Union Square. Free lunch. Cable Cars: Museum, Lombard Street; Barbary Lane, Ina Coolbrith Park, Washington Square Park, Coit Tower.
DAY 3 | 07 October BIKE from Fisherman's Wharf to Sausalito with lunch in Sausalito. Possibility of return by boat.
DAY 4 | 08 October Sea training in San Francisco Bay. Panoramic trekking: Coastal Trail.
DAY 5 | 09 October Training at sea in San Francisco Bay. Visit the Haight Ashbury neighborhood on foot - by bike in Golden Gate Park. Second free afternoon.
DAY 6 | 10 October Pre-Cross Swim in San Francisco Bay. Visit Alcatraz with Ferry to Alcatraz Island.
DAY 7 | 11 October Swim crossing Escape from Alcatraz.
DAY 8 | 12 October Return to the country of origin.
The organizer reserves the right in its sole discretion, to modify the program. The costs of individual activities are not included in the participation fee.

Cancellation policy

- 20% refund on the deposit and 50% refund on the balance (for single payments only) for cancellations made between March 11th and June 1st.
- 50% refund of the balance for cancellations made between June 2nd and September 2nd.

Two-step payment by bank transfer divided as follows:
01 Fist amount of €1500 per person is due March 10th.
02 Final balance due by June 1st.
The camps will be officially confirmed in the first half of March. If the minimum number of 10 participants is reached. In case of cancellation you will be reimbursed 100%.
N.B. Athletes of the same sex (that don't already know each other) have the option to share a room with another athlete with the same request, in order to share the costs.
