THE EVENT

The Crossing Escape from Alcatraz, inspired by the famous escape from the island’s prison in 1962 is among the most evocative swimming crossings in the world. In October, you may choose to live this experience in California with Swimming Travel!
There are two different options: GOLD e BASIC.

In the GOLD option the athlete will be pampered by Swimming Travel on an unforgettable journey that will allow not only to experience intense days of swimming, from the crossing to the discovery of the Californian coasts, but also to get to know the technological, economic and cultural center of California: San Francisco. The GOLD package includes 7 nights in a **** hotel, swim crossing, advice and strategies, group swim the day before the event, including the visit of San Francisco city.

In the BASIC option the athlete has the right to participate only in the swim crossing, the accommodation is managed independently. We highly recommend BASIC participants to consider at least two days extra while planning their journey. Due to the weather conditions, the crossing could be postponed and we don’t want you to miss this opportunity. As always, safety in the water is a priority, for this reason the crossing will be monitored and managed by local professionals, experts in assisting those marine currents.

THE PROGRAM

BASIC Program Option
Crossing only

DAY 1 - 06/10/2024 meeting on the beach for the technical briefing, analysis of weather conditions, route analysis and delivery of gadgets. Transfer by boats to the starting point.
DAYS 2 e 3 - 07|08/10/2024 Mandatory free day for possible recovery of the crossing not carried out in the previous day, due to improving weather and sea conditions.

* For reasons related to the postponement of the crossing, due to adverse weather and sea conditions, participants of the BASIC package are invited to plan their trip allowing for the possibility of postponing the crossing by 2 days.

GOLD Program Option
Crossing + Accommodation Hotel ****+ Swim Camp

DAY 1 - 04/10/2024 Arrival and visit San Francisco: including Union Square, the Ferry Building and the Golden Gate Bridge.
DAY 2 - 05/10/2023 Visit Alcatraz with ferry to Alcatraz Island + pre-cross swim with local organizers.
DAY 3 - 06/10/2023 Swim crossing Escape from Alcatraz.
DAY 4 - 07/10/2023 Sightseeing: Golden Gate Park, the largest park in San Francisco, Museum of Water Art, the Botanical Garden and the Children's Museum.
DAY 5 - 08/10/2023 Visit Haight-Ashbury: historic and iconic neighborhood, known for being at the center of the counterculture of the 1960s.
DAY 6 - 09/10/2023 Visit the San Francisco Peninsula. Sightseeing such as Pacifica, Half Moon Bay and San Mateo.
DAY 7 - 10/10/2023 Visit Twin Peaks. Climb to the top of the San Francisco hills for a panoramic view of the city + free sightseeing in the city.
DAY 8 - 11/10/2023 Departure.
* The organizer reserves the right in its sole discretion, to modify the program.

• 7 nights in 4* Argonaut Hotel San Francisco which features a 24-hour front desk, with room service. You can also take advantage of the on-site fitness center and breakfast.

• Assistance with general organization, trip planning, swimming assistance and advice, on-site assistance from Swimming Travel guides.
• Private Swimming Travel briefing to analyze the course, group swim with the local organizers in San Francisco Bay.
• English-Italian interpreter.
• 360-degree assistance for the entire event.
• Swimming Travel gadget.

The package does not include

• Flight.
• Transfer to/from the airport.
• Tourist tax.
• Food.
• Travel in the city.
• Everything not specified in "the package includes".

Cancellation policy

Refund Policy BASIC PACKAGE

• 90% refund until 19.02.
• There are no refund policies for cancellations after 20.02.

Refund Policy GOLD PACKAGE

• 90% refund made before February 19th.
• 20% refund on the deposit and 50% refund on the balance (for single payments only) for cancellations made between February 20th and June 1st.
• 50% refund of the balance for cancellations made between June 2nd and September 2nd.
• There are no refund policies for cancellations after September 2nd.

The organization will have no responsibility for any postponements or cancellations of the crossing due to bad weather and sea conditions, committing itself and limiting itself to evaluating with the participants and the maritime authority the possibility of an alternative date. For this reason, participants of the BASIC package are highly invited to plan their trip allowing for the possibility of postponing the crossing by 2 days in the event of adverse weather conditions.

The amount paid will be withheld in the event of: cancellation, waiver of postponement, delay, failure or incomplete sending of the necessary documentation for the crossing with consequent impossibility of carrying out the crossing. No refund is provided in the event that: the crossing has started regularly but must be interrupted during its progress due to worsening weather and sea conditions or due to intervention by the Maritime Authorities.

A refund of 80% is provided for cancellations due to national travel restrictions within the American territory.

Customization

BASIC PACKAGE

01 Single payment via online platforms (PayPal/Stripe), or bank transfer as indicated in the registration form.

GOLD PACKAGE

Single payment via online platforms (PayPal/Stripe) as indicated in the registration form.
Two-step payment by bank transfer divided as follows:

01 Fist amount of €1500 per person is due February 20th.
02 Final balance due by June 1st.

The camps will be officially confirmed in the first half of March. If the minimum number of 10 participants is reached. In case of cancellation you will be reimbursed 100%.

Athletes of the same sex (that don't already know each other) have the option to share a room with another athlete with the same request, in order to share the costs.
